Big event coming up

The Limassol Tourism Company proudly presents the legendary tenor José Carreras

The Limassol Tourism Company, aiming at upgrading and enriching the cultural calendar of Limassol and attracting increased numbers of visitors, is organising at the beginning of June 2010 a concert of the famous tenor José Carreras.
José Carreras, who undoubtedly holds a privileged position in the world of music with millions of fans all over the world, returns to Cyprus after six years for a memorable concert. The concert will take place on June 9, 2010 at the Municipal Gardens Theatre in Limassol, accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of Cyprus, under the direction of David Gimenez.
The concert of José Carreras in Limassol is expected to be the highlight of this year’s summer and one of the most glamorous events in the cultural calendar of our region and of Cyprus. Tickets are available both on the web and at the Box Office (Papadopoulos & Schoinis, Irenes street, Limassol).

 

New flights to and from Cyprus









Kiss to replace Flyglobespan flights to Cyprus

A new airline is to operate out of Glasgow following the collapse of Flyglobespan, it has been announced. Kiss Flights, which operates from eight UK airports outside Scotland, will be offering 12 summer routes to Mediterranean destinations from April. They include Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey.

New flights are to be launched by Easyjet and Jet 2 to Cyprus.

Easyjet will fly from April 14 from Bristol to Paphos four times a week while it will also conduct flights from Edinburgh to Paphos twice a week. Jet2 will fly from Newcastle and East Midlands from April 4 until October 31.
The announcement was made following a series of meetings held in London by the chairman of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation. Jet2 estimates it will carry 82,400 passengers in 2010 compared to 37,000 in 2009, while Easyjet will be able to carry 225,000 passengers in 2010 compared to 155,000 in 2009.
Tour operators pledged to maintain the same number of passengers as in 2009 or even increase it slightly, a CTO announcement noted, adding that Cyprus remains a popular tourist destination.

Dublin and Kiev added to CY’s busy summer schedule

National carrier Cyprus Airways (CY) is to add Kiev and Dublin to its list of destinations in 2010, the airline has announced.

New hotel opens in Old Nicosia

BannerOwners, Yiota Georgiou and her father Yiannakis, invested 9 mln euros to build the Royiatiko hotel from scratch, resulting in levels of luxury in all 32 rooms, with comfort being the primary goal such as secure door systems, leather and wooden furniture all round, flat screens in all rooms and free WiFi. The hotel has basement parking for its residents, a gym, a bar and dining area and an outdoor swimming pool, transforming the Royiatiko into an oasis during the warmer summer months. It rises three floors on Apollonos street, a stone’s throw away from Ledra and Regaena streets and will be catering mainly to business people visiting the capital for work, as well as short-stay tourists who want to be in the centre of town and easily reach all the historical sites and other attractions.
