Alecos Hotel Apartments Paphos Cyprus (September 2025)
What can I say, it is a 3* hotel and I have just returned from possibly the best 2 week holiday we have had in a long time.
Our apartment on the ground floor was a little tired but an excellent base for the holiday and had everything we needed for a self-catering holiday, not that we cooked much.
Air conditioned rooms; much needed in the day time with temperatures of 34C plus and not much cooler at night.
Our 1 bed apartment had the following: Separate bedroom with a large double bed, bath with shower over, wash basin and toilet, open plan kitchen and living room, TV (not that we watched anything on it) Large comfortable bed settee, table and four chairs, mini oven with two hobs, fridge with small freezer compartment, all the Plates, bowls, cutlery, pots, pans you might need and a sink. Outside a small, terraced area with a table and chairs. Our view was of the banana trees separating us from the building next door (fascinating to watch them grow before your eyes).
The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh sheets and linen every third day. Excellent cleaners I’ll add.
We loved it so much we are already looking at dates for later in the year (when it is a little cooler) and for next year (2026)
Edit there is free Wi-Fi in the rooms
See my other review on the Friends Resto Bar attached to the hotel and owned by the same company.

We booked this holiday as a last minute cheap get away as we had already had our main holiday earlier on in the year. Was apprehensive after reading the reviews.
First impressions weren’t great of the hotel but after being met by the friendly staff, George and the women on reception are lovely and put my mind at ease.
It became apparent the next morning, it wouldn’t be a holiday where we could lie around the pool with 2 kids all day, it’s very small with not much going on, some music may lighten the mood a little.
I decide to hire a car and use it as a base to do more exploring than we would usually do. We would get back, the kids would have a hour or two in the pool and we would go out for tea and a few drinks. Friends bar what is directly downstairs have some good entertainment on and the food is pretty good. All the staff are pleasant. The restaurant next door is also very good!
The rooms are pretty basic but have everything you need, few downsides is only being aircon in the bedroom and although the bathrooms are new and modern the water pressure of the shower is very poor. We stayed in block B and only had one night where I got woke up by the loud music.
All in all we had a good week, although I wouldn’t really recommend the hotel for families who want a pool type holiday!

If you want a decent holiday don't stay here!
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were extremely disappointed by the condition and quality of the accommodation provided. The room fell well below the standards advertised. The room did not resemble the website images or description in terms of space, cleanliness, or facilities.
There was no proper balcony or window offering a view. We were put in room 101 block D. Glazed window with no view. Side window facing brick wall. Patio (if you can call it that) was only suitable for smoking on!!! (Not nice at all)
The air conditioning was inadequate, leaving the room unbearably hot and uncomfortable. No additional fans provided. It felt like we were in some sort of sweat torture room!!!
The swimming pool area appeared unhygienic. So much so we decided not to use it.
The configuration of the accommodation is very strange walking through a car park to get to pool.
Although I wouldn't really watch TV on holiday it is still nice to have the option of a TV, however the TV had no signal at all.
Loud music could be heard from our room, so we could not rest well.
Most disturbingly, the hotel manager greeted us by saying “Welcome to Fawlty Towers” and later remarked, “this is the last time I am being nice to you” when I struggled to carry my suitcase upstairs. This was not only unprofessional but made us feel deeply unwelcome.
We stayed one night (total of 10 hours) and even that was too long! I had sourced different accommodation by 6am the next day! We couldn't wait to leave!!!! We had no choice if we wanted a decent holiday. Time is precious and I was not going waste my hard earned money & time on this place!!!!
This was booked as a package deal but would not recommend this place at all. One star is one star too many! Avoid like the plague!!!!

I’ve travelled to Cyprus many times over the last 15 years and have always visited the friends bar for evening entertainment but had not stayed at the attached apartments before. As I spend much of my time out and about , all inclusive doesn’t suit me so I opted for the breakfast included self catering option this time round. Was really impressed with the apartment, spacious and nice size, modern bathroom with a walk in shower, the bed was huge and comfy with a brand new AC unit in the bedroom, aswell as a large corner sofa, balcony and all the self catering bits you need with a table & chairs for dining. I would recommend bringing tea towels and an extra mini sauce pan if you plan on cooking indoors daily as I tend to eat out mostly - nice sized tea cups and glasses for those who like home comforts when away :) Very little noise at night from the local clubs considering the prime location (8 minute walk to the sea) those who have complained on here probably didn’t shut their windows at night as my room was located right behind flairs and I heard minimal into the early hours, while awake until late as I’m a sober night owl lol. The room also has a large sofa and balcony door that also functions as windows if need be which helps cool the living room at night as the AC unit is located in the bedroom only. Included Breakfast options are limited as friends is a bar/restaurant and not buffet style but options include omelette , eggs on toast etc with x1 tea/coffee/juice - their menu has always been delightful tbh! Pool looks nice although I’m an ocean girl so will probs not use and there’s also handy onsite parking. George the manager even recommended a jeep safari trip to the Akamas & Blue Lagoon boat trip for Sunday which includes sightseeing stops I’ve not done before! Would defo recommend Alecos for those who like to have a nice apartment to call home while exploring the best of Cyprus xx

Cheap, convenient for the harbour and local bars and restaurants and acceptable only if you don't mind a member of staff using foul language, little or no running water in your apartment, excessive noise from the bar below the apartments and no little extras such as a shower caddy, washing up liquid, dishcloth or tea towel.
On the plus side the apartments are cleaned daily to a high standard and towels changed regularly. Unfortunately the pluses are in a small minority in my opinion
