Agia Napa For Families

For a few years now, Agia Napa has earned itself quite the reputation as a party paradise, but visitors should also know that it’s very much a place that caters for families as well.

Naturally, kids will always want to head for the beach as soon as the aeroplane lands, and although Agia Napa offers some of the best beaches in Cyprus like Nissi Beach, they do tend to be a bit touristy in that they cater more for the party crowds. To really spoil your kids with a beautiful beach, look for Konnos Beach which is a popular beach for the locals to bring their families mostly because of it’s shallow waters and lack of tidal currents.

Of course, any seaside resort needs its waterparks and Agia Napa boasts one of the best ones. Take your kids first thing in the morning to Waterworld Waterpark and you may end up having to beg them to leave (in fact, you might end up enjoying it so much you wont want to leave yourself…)Having won fourteen international awards and claiming to be the biggest waterpark in Europe, it carries a theme of Greek Mythology throughout and you and your kids can play with the gods on rides known as River Oddyssey, Aphrodite’s Bath, Drop to Atlantis and even Poseidon’s Wave Pool. Once you’ve all built up your hunger on the Fall of Icarus and The Quest of Hercules, head for the many food and beverage outlets around, from self-service and take away to pancakes and ice creams.

Open most evenings during the main holiday season, the Parko Paliatso Fun Fair is a must for your kids. As the biggest fun fair in Cyprus, it offers a wide range of games, rides and even trampolines for kids of all shapes and sizes. It works on a token system and offers fantastic value for money and the onsite café will provide you with the nourishment and rest you’ll need while your kids are on the Ghost Train and crashing into each other on the bumper cars.

What better way to enjoy the magical Mediterranean than by sailing on it, and the Yellow Submarine takes you on a sail with a difference. The actual trip is on a surface submarine and is a great way for you to spend time with your kids; the submarine has thirty seats below with large round windows and is fully airconditioned, so while you’re cruising along the Agia Napa coastline stopping at the sea caves and Nissi Beach, you can enjoy the best of both worlds because you can also chill out on the deck chairs above. The captain will even dive under the water for a fish-feeding show.

And just because you want to give your kids a holiday to remember, you can also take them to the Kikiriko Fun Park which has often been described as a children’s paradise. It’s full of giant inflatables, trampolines, floating swans and a whale’s mouth that opens and closes and only the braver children dare to climb in. There’s a swimming pool filled with balls as a well as a mountain to be climbed, for kids over five. Of course, its tiring work watching your kids play so much, so there’s even a café right next door so you can relax while keeping an eye on the little ones.
