Restaurants in Ayia Napa

If there’s one thing you can be sure of, is that whatever you feel like, you should be able to find it in Agia Napa. While most restaurants do close during the winter season, if you do get to taste what they have to offer, then you’ll never want to leave.

Should you be in the mood for a little pheasant, a morsel of ostrich or maybe even a touch of crocodile, then you won’t be able to tear yourself away from the rather “out of this world, ” or should we rather say, “under this world” Perla Blu. It’s under this world, mainly because its theme is “under the sea” and its menu is without a doubt eclectic, catering to those who like to dine a little on the wild side. You can order anything from ostrich, pheasant, wild boar, shark, crocodile and even kangaroo, while those who prefer their meals a little more mainstream should have no problems with the more traditional international menu which is also available.

For a taste of something a little more exotic, visit Fiji, which is one of the very few Polynesian restaurants in Cyprus. From its bamboo awnings to its thatched roof, everything about this restaurant suggests chilling out and having a good time. Watch the chefs as they entertain you from the open kitchens and savour every morsel of their food as you taste the sensations of different herbs and spices all mixed together with tropical fruit.

They say the best restaurants are those frequented often by the locals and if there’s one place that seems to have all the right ingredients, it’s Limelight. Locals travel from all over the island to enjoy the spectacular charcoal-grilled meals at this tarverna and in fact it’s one of the few restaurants in Agia Napa where you actually have to book. If you don’t fancy grilled steak, suckling pig, lamb or even lobster, then you can always order from the a la carte menu, but why bother when you can have succulent lobster straight off the charcoals?

In terms of “ethnic” restaurants, Agia Napa offers pretty much all the necessary presences. For a taste of India, try out the Tandoori Nights restaurant, which as the name suggests, is an authentic Indian, specialising in original tandoori dishes; the naan bread is highly recommended. For those who want a taste of the Orient, then Hokkaido is the place for you; it’s not only the first Japanese restaurant which opened up in Cyprus, it’s also unashamedly still one of the best. Catch the hugely entertaining teppanyaki chefs who play with your food before serving it to you.

Make sure you also try out the Pagoda Chinese Restaurant; it’s part of the chain established throughout the country, and like the others, it’s very, very good. The meals are mainly Peking and Szechuan, while the service and attention to detail is always top class.

If you want a family meal that doesn’t involve a take away place, then try out the Il Cavaliere Italian Restaurant, which while serving exceptionally good Italian food, is very much child friendly. Definitely a place to visit a few times if you like your pasta al dente and your service nice and warm.
