Paphos For Singles
If you’re the type who loves having a good time, going out every night and enjoying yourself, then there’s only one name you need to remember in Paphos - Agios Antonios Road, or as it’s known rather affectionately by the locals, ‘Bar Street’.
As the name suggests, this is an entire road dedicated to fun and frivolity. Make sure you go on a full stomach though as most of these places won’t let you leave without having a cocktail on the house. Whatever it is you are looking for, whatever type of experience you want, you’ll find it here. Perhaps one of its attractions is that it is still quite safe, with most of the more popular places having their own security teams. The police also patrol quite frequently and everyone sticks rather strictly to operating rules and times.
That said, there are three clubs on the street and while nowhere near the size of clubs in the bigger cities, are pretty good to go for a night out. The clubs only open at 1am (which is when all the bars and pubs have to close) and what most people do is go to the bars first (try Woody’z and California as a starter), then they go for spot of karaoke (Boogies, next to California is the best place for this) followed by a spot of clubbing. The three English-based clubs are Starsky and Hutch, Rainbow and Escape all of which offer their own sort of charm.
If you really want to experience local nightlife, give a Greek club a try. These clubs often play the best music, both English and Greek and are a little less informal and casual. Loft Club, which is just behind ‘Bar Street’ attracts a younger crowd, while Cartel, on the main beach road enjoys an older crowd, enjoying the best views (it’s on the top of a three story building).
There is more to Paphos though than the nightlife; you can lie on the beach and no one will really bother you while your holiday representative will be able to suggest things for you to do.
