Nicosia Restaurants

Nicosia RestaurantsWhen it comes to eating out in Nicosia, you only need to know one thing – whatever you feel like eating, it is likely to be good. The city boasts some of the best restaurants in the country catering to almost any need and taste, but you’ll also find hole in the wall tavernas that serve Cypriot food exactly the way it should be – fresh and tasty.

For a taste of wholesome meze (little plates of meals starting out with dips and salads and ending up in a range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes), it’s always a good idea to make like Romans do when in Rome, or in this case make like the Nicosians and head for a local, traditional tavern. One of the best tarverns which seems to have been around for ever has to be Zanettos and it’s unlikely that they won’t have to roll you out when you are done, because the meals just keep on coming. The other thing to do when it comes to a meze meal, is to befriend a local and ask their advice; remember that most mezedes are pretty similar in content, but you’ll know once you’ve had a truly exceptional one. In fact, after you’ve had a couple of these relatively cheap but most filling taste extravaganzas, you’ll find other food kind of looks a little less exciting…
