Nicosians are very proud of their sense of style; they’re fashion conscious and it’s very much a case of see and be seen. And when it comes to their children, only the best is good enough, which is why you’ll find rather a large amount of children’s boutique stores. So if you have a few hundred pounds lying around, treat your kids to designer threads from shops like Kidz!, Minikid and Okaidi.

Bearing that in mind, once you’ve kitted out your kids in the latest styles, you’ll have to take them somewhere to show them off. If they’re wearing the latest mini Nike and Adidas gear you could take them to the Kykkos Bowling Centre, which is large enough for everyone to see how cute (and talented) they are. The child in you can also enjoy this facility as it caters for all ages and levels with a very well stocked hiring section.

Of course for all those aspiring Tiger Woodses out there, Nicosia boasts the only eighteen hole mini golf course in Cyprus. City Mini Golf is modern and well equipped, with a café serving snacks and drinks for you while the kids perfect their stroke. The course is big enough to accommodate a hundred players, while parking is plentiful which does make rather a nice change.

But to really get the kids going and enjoy something yourself as well, you should visit the Ostrich Wonderland Theme Park which you’ll find at the Ayios Ioannis Malountas Village. It’s open from May until October and as the biggest ostrich park in Europe you’ll pretty much find out everything you need to know about these historic birds. A big treat is actually standing on an ostrich egg – you’ll be surprised at how strong they actually are and of course for the really brave and unaffected of you, there are ostrich burgers for sale at the cafeteria.
